Samuel later worked for both Xenia and Kettering school systems, and would give his spare time and work at the election polls. Samuel had a love for pocket knives and ceramics, winning 2nd place for his prized ceramic eagle. Samuel enjoyed fishing with his family, vacationing in the Smokey Mountains, and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed making bad dad jokes and watching Westerns.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother-in-law, Denny Burry. Samuel is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Connie; children, Tamara (Harry III), Burchell, Heather (J.) Eldridge, and David; grandchildren, Benjamin, Evangeline, and James; brothers, Ricky (Beverly), John (Sharon), and Bob (Marsha); sisters, Beverly Burrey, and Shirley (Ken) Roush, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family will greet friends Monday, November 23 5:00pm-7:00pm at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, November 24 at 11:00am at Dayton Avenue Baptist Church, 1121 Dayton Ave., Xenia, OH 45385. Burial in Woodland Cemetery, Xenia.
