Mr. Wayne Jackson Lee Sr., 79, of Dunn went to be with the Lord Saturday January 2, 2021. Mr. Lee was born August 20, 1941 in Sampson County to the late Henry T. and Lillian Jackson Lee. He was preceded in death by his brothers Elwin Lee and Peyton Lee.

Wayne was a member of the last graduating class at Plain View High School in 1959. He along with his wife Judy founded, owned and operated Wayne Lee’s Towing & Service Center since 1963 which still serves the community today. He described himself as the “Three County Man” (Wayne – Jackson – Lee). He enjoyed his work and helping the community. He was noted as the first one to arrive at the station of the morning and be one of the last ones to leave of the evening. Wayne was well known for taking care of his customers and those in need. Mr. Lee loved to sing. One of his favorites to sing was “Happy Birthday” to his loved ones, his children and grandchildren. He was a member of Bethesda Friends Meeting and served as choir director there for many years. He always enjoyed having his four legged friends and “Spark Plug” held a special place in his heart.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at 11am at Bethesda Friends Meeting with Rev. Dr. Cheryl Benson and Rev. Johnathan Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Dunn.

Mr. Lee is survived by his wife of 59 years, Judy Lee of the home; daughter, Julie Sezer and husband Orral of Pittsboro; sons, Wayne Lee Jr. and wife Tanya of Dunn, Scott Lee and wife Sandra of Jamestown, Don Lee and wife Shelley of Dunn; and sister in law, Betty Lee of Dunn; grandchildren, Courtney Sezer, Lorin Ferrell, Taylor Lee, Dustin Lee, Ryan Lee, Jackson Lee, Melody, Tyler, and Marissa Lee.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 5, 2021 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Skinner & Smith Funeral Home in Dunn.

The family requests all in attendance to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
