William John Conway, 74, passed away on Dec. 31, 2020 after a long illness.

Born in Worcester, MA on July 23, 1946 to Claire (Skahen) and Thomas J. Conway, Jr., his family moved to Manchester, NH when he was 3. He excelled in Little League, throwing a no-hitter in his first year, and played basketball for St. Rapheal's helping them win the State Championship. After graduating from Manchester West, he joined the Air Force Reserves and eventually the Army Reserves. He worked for Johnson Controls for over 20 years and finished out his HVAC career with the City of Manchester in the Public Buildings department.

His love for golf, which affectionately earned him the title, Mr. Golf, started at Manchester Country Club where he started caddying at the age of 7. He played in the Annual CYO tournament as a teen. He was a member at MCC for many years before joining Derryfield Country Club, where he was a member for 45+ years. Over the years, there weren't too many Manchester City Championship Tournaments that he missed, including many years in the Championship field, then the Seniors division and finally he was very proud to be in the inaugural Super Seniors flight! He was well-known across the state, having also been a long-time member of the NHGA.

In 1969, he married the former Diane Turcotte and had a son and daughter. He remarried in 1994, to the former Eileen Joyce and had another son and daughter, adopting twins from Romania. The love in his heart was overflowing for all 4 of his children. The years spent at gymnastic meets, baseball fields, basketball courts and skating rinks watching all of them participate will always be cherished. This was followed by his role as Papa, attending as many of his grandchildren's events as possible.

He is survived by his wife, Eileen (Joyce) Conway, his son Jason and his wife Tricia in Exeter, his daughter Jennifer Cote and her husband Keith ("Bo") in Reading, MA, his son Alexander and his daughter Rebecca, both of Manchester. His grandchildren Jack and Grace Cote and Harry and Jake Conway. His brothers Thomas and his wife Diana, James and his wife Andrea and David and his wife Betty. Many nieces, nephews and cousins and numerous friends who always seemed like family!

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to "Bill Conway Memorial Youth Golf Fund" c/o Eileen Conway 149 Fieldcrest Rd., Manchester, NH 03102.

Services: The funeral will be held Saturday, January 9, 2021, with a mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 10 AM in Saint Joseph Cathedral, Pine Street, Manchester, NH. The church has planned social distancing procedures. Masks are required. The mass will be live-streamed at https://www.stjosephcathedralnh.org/.

Burial will take place in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Bedford, NH, at a later date. A celebration of life will be held in the summer.
