Janet, affectionately know as Jenny was born in Forsyth County and was the daughter of Earline Yates and the late Henry Mack Grier. She attended public school in Winston Salem. Janet worked at Pepsi- Cola as a bottler until her health declined. She leaves to mourn her passing daughter (Melanie Yates), Grandchildren( Jailen Watkins, Jamiya Yates, James Watkins Jr and Chandler Steele. Her mother Earline Yates. Four sisters Debra(Jimmy) Norwood, Tukeela Yates, Brenda Blakney, Constance Yates. Caregivers Guillermina Yates , Stephanie Boston and a hosts of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her sons (Calvin Yates and Marty Yates) and a Brother (David Bowman) Jenny loved sitting in the park, listening to music (Luther Vandross) and spending time with family neighbors and friends. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Meals on Wheels of Senior Services in Winston-Salem A private services will be held Wednesday, November 25, 2020.
