Mabel E. Garrett, 85, of St. Pauls, entered into eternal rest on January 2, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born May 14, 1935 in Robeson County to the late Simeon and Elizabeth Carter Blackburn.

She was a member of Calvary Cornerstone Holiness Church and retired from Burlington Industries. She had married the love of her life, Robert, at the young age of 16, and cultivated a lifetime of memories with him on East Great Marsh Church Rd. Since Robert's passing in 2013, she had missed him greatly, and had looked forward to the day when she could be with him again. She enjoyed puzzle books and listening to gospel music. She loved reading her Bible and had a strong faith in the Lord. Though we will miss her greatly, we know that she was ready to go home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Garrett; her parents Simeon and Elizabeth Blackburn; her sisters, Hazel Anderson and Jean Thompkins; and her brothers, Bernice Blackburn, Edward Blackburn, and Wendell Blackburn.

She is survived by her daughters, Janet Blackmon and her husband Charles and Joy McLamb and her husband Bobby; brothers, Charles Blackburn and his wife Marilyn of St. Pauls, Donnie Blackburn and his wife Debra of Lumberton, and Lloyd Blackburn Marilyn of St. Pauls; her sisters, Cathy Dudney and her husband Brice of Lumberton, Joyce Thompkins and her husband Matt of Lumberton, Linda Jackson of Gray’s Creek, Mary Blake of Aberdeen, and Sue Byrd and her husband Cecil of Fuquay-Varina; her grandchildren, Stephen, Kelly, Paula, and Jordan; and her great-grandchildren, Gavin, Aiden, Caroline, Maely, Finley, Addilynn, and Rekkr.

Following a private family funeral service, friends are invited to a graveside committal service Wednesday January 6, 2021 at 12:00 noon at Gardens of Faith Cemetery in Lumberton.
