Memorial services will be held at 4 PM on Tuesday, March 13 at Falconer funeral home in Gilbert, Arizona for Glenn Arthur Pearson, 77, who died March 4, 2012 at Hospice of Arizona in Mesa, Arizona. He was a former resident of Madison, South Dakota. Glenn Pearson was born December 17, 1934 in Lawton, North Dakota to Carl and Della (Olson) Pearson. He grew up on the family farm near Lawton. Glenn graduated from Lawton high school in 1952 and continued his education at Mayville State College in North Dakota, graduating with a bachelor's degree in business.
He taught and coached basketball in Lawton. He also taught in Inkster, North Dakota and in Chester, Darby and Missoula, Montana. He taught business courses and was high school principal at Inkster, North Dakota and Chester, Montana.
He continued his education at the University of Montana, Missoula, on a fellowship program completing his Master’s degree in computer science and completing coursework towards his doctorate degree.
Glenn moved to Madison, South Dakota in 1971 where he taught business and computer courses at Dakota State College (now Dakota State University) introducing the first computer courses to the college. He was named an Outstanding Educator of America in 1975. He retired from teaching in 1988 due to health related problems. He spent the winter months in Gilbert, Arizona with his wife. He married Marlene Olson August 3, 1957 in Osnabrock, North Dakota at Dovre Lutheran church.
He is survived by his wife, 2 sons, Kirk of Bloomington, Minnesota and Kerry (Lisa), a grandson, Kyle and a granddaughter, Jenna, of Gilbert Arizona, nieces, a nephew and a sister-in-law, Arlene.
He was a member of both the South Dakota and National Education Associations, MS Society, a past member of the Jaycees and Elks. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Madison, South Dakota.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Edward and Oswald, a sister, Marie Kleingartner, a nephew, Robert Pearson and a niece, Connie Kleingartner.
