James A. “Bud” Hewitt passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at the age of 92.

Beloved husband of the late Elda “Addie” Hewitt.

Loving father of Linda Carter (Allen), Karen Mathews (the late Edgar) and James A. Hewitt Jr. (Pattye).

Son of the late Benjamin Hewitt Sr. and Eula Mae Abna Hewitt.

Brother of Helen Egan and the late Melba Hewitt, Marie Hewitt, Anna Richardson, Joyce Forrest, B.F. Hewitt, Brian Hewitt, Oscar Hewitt and Royce Hewitt.

Proud grandfather of Ashley Hewitt Rogers, Ryan Carter, Edgar James Mathews IV, Jade Hewitt and Sarah Mathews. Great grandfather of Elizabeth Rogers.

James was born on June 6, 1928 in Starrville, TX and was a resident of St. Bernard Parish for 40 years. After Hurricane Katrina he settled in Mandeville, LA.

He was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran, proudly serving overseas in Europe during WWII and was a member of the USN Cruiser Association.

Jim was an avid New Orleans Saints and Boston Red Sox fan. He loved Cajun food and had a strong liking for sweets. He will be forever remembered and deeply missed by his family, friends and all of those whose lives he touched.

A private family funeral service will celebrated. He will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.

Due to COVID-19, face masks and social distancing are required.
