ATHENS — Graveside funeral services for Daniel O. Wright, Jr., 85, will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 8, 2021, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Due to the Covid pandemic, masks are recommended and social distancing should be maintained.

Mr. Wright passed away Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2021, at Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center. He was born in Crisp County, Georgia to Daniel Otha and Mildred Lucille Crozier Wright. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Alice Dent Wright, his brother, Richard Henry Blair, and his grandson, John E. Robinson, Jr.

He was a member of Vienna First Baptist. He was a retired insurance salesman. He also proudly served his county in the United States Navy retiring after more than 21 years as a Master Chief Electrician’s Mate.

He is survived by his children: Melanie Wright Robinson of Athens, Ga., Daniel B. Wright of Moultrie, Ga., and William David Wright of Bogart, Ga.; his siblings: Steven Blair of Valdosta, Ga., and Gloria B. Reed of Vienna, Ga.; his grandchildren: Allison Robinson, Daniel B. Wright, II, Stephen Wright, William D. Wright, II, Miranda Wright, and Deidra Wright; and nine great-grandchildren.
