RITES "CONDUCTED FOR CHAUNCEY DEPEW, JR.
NEW YORK, Wednesday, Jan. 28 AP — The funeral of Chauncey M. Depew, Jr., was held today at St. Thomas Episcopal church on Fifth avenue. Mr. Depew died Monday at his home. He was 53 and unmarried. Interment will be at Peekskill, N. Y. in the Depew vault.
The above obituary states that he was 53 years old, but his passports, ship passenger records, WW1 registration, and his "Sons of the American Revolution" application, all list his birth as July 7, 1879 - which means that he was 51 years old when he died, just three years after his noted father, Sen. Chauncey Mitchell Depew, Sr. died at the age of 93 in 1928.
