She was born on April 1, 1934, in Chardon, to Harlan and Cecilia (nee Avins)Cooley . Barbara was a 1952 graduate of Chardon High School and received her master’s degree in library science from Kent State University. On April 7, 1952, she married Milton Henry Luther. She had been a librarian for the Geauga County Public Library for more than 30 years and was a member of Urania Chapter No. 284 Order of Eastern Star (formerly Ruby Chapter No. 4 in Chardon).
Survivors include her daughters, Michelle (Gary) Mymo of Niles, Cynthia Luther of Fernley, Nev., and Heidi (Norman) Gertz of Hambden; sons, Konrad of Chardon and Byron of Chardon; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters, Karen (Tim) Kloiber of Kansas City, Jennifer (Ken) Artim of Mentor and Renee (Larry) Weeks of Mentor; and many extended family.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; daughter, Venice Phillips; son, Milton H. Luther II; and brother, Rex Cooley.
Private family services were held. Interment is in Chardon Municipal Cemetery. The Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St. (on Route 44 just south of Route 6 / Chardon Square), Chardon.
