In 1809 Susan Davisson, daughter of Josiah and Martha Stout Davisson, married Abner Maxwell (1785-1864), son of Thomas and Jane (Lewis) Maxwell.

Susan (6) (Josiah (5), Obadiah (4),Josiah (3), Daniel (2&1)) was born on Brown's Creek, Harrison County, Virginia on May 17, 1788; she died August 1, 1826, and is buried in the Adkinson Cemetery in the Grant District of Harrison County near Mt. Clare, West Virginia; Susan married August 16, 1809 Abner Maxwell (see Harrison County Book 1, page 107) who was born in 1785 and died in 1864; he was the son of Thomas and Jane (Lewis) Maxwell, who lived on Brown's Creek in Harrison County, Virginia, on the late William Blake farm. Abner Maxwell and Judith Midissett, his second wife, are probably buried near Tom's Fork in Doddridge County, West Virginia, according to a relative, William B. Maxwell III of Charleston, West Virginia.
