Ralph Bishop (“Ralph Dear” for those closest to him) passed peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus the morning of December 31, 2020, in Des Plaines, Illinois. Ralph Dear and his wife, Ramona O. Bishop, nee Hawley, had 71 wonderful years together. He was a devoted and loving father of Debra, and Diane Bishop Hussey. Cherished grandfather of three, Brandon, Devin (Misty), and Tara (Jon), he instilled important old-school values. His nickname, Ralph Dear, was affectionately used by family and friends as he was exceptionally thoughtful and loyal. Ralph was born in Park Ridge, Illinois, and lived 91 of his 93 years less than one-half mile from where he was born. He served in the US Army during WWII and was a proud and dedicated member of the Park Ridge Fire department, retiring as a captain after 28 years. His knowledge about the town was often sought by the Park Ridge Historical Society. Ralph was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church of Park Ridge. A private visitation was held on Tuesday, January 5, at the Ryan-Parke Funeral Home. Interment followed at the Town of Maine Cemetery. As Ralph was a concerned veteran, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Gary Sinise Foundation, https://www.garysinisefoundation.org/.
