Rita Joan Young, 83, of Rossburg, Ohio, passed away on Monday, January 4, 2020, at her home.

She was born on June 13, 1937, in Rossburg, Ohio, to the late Lowell and Dortha (Hathaway) McEowen.

In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by her son, Ron Kaffenberger; her brothers, Robert McEowen, Ralph (June) McEowen, her great-grandchildren, Audrianna Rene Kaffenberger, and Kalla Lilly Kaffenberger; her mother and father-in-law, Clarence and Hazel Young; her brothers-in-law, Charles, Donald, Raymond, James, Paul, John, Lonnie, and Robert Young, and Leslie McKinley; her sisters-in-law, Mable Young, Anna McKinley, and Jackie Brown; and her precious dog, Half-Pint.

Rita worked for Corning Glass in Greenville for 7 years as a glass packer until she left to become a homemaker and tend to her family. She cherished her family and enjoyed spending time with them especially with her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Rita loved to go shopping and capture the ultimate bargain at Goodwill or at many local garage sales. In her free time, she enjoyed playing the piano and bring joy to others.

Rita is survived by her husband of 57 years, Ronald Gene Young; her children, Robert Kaffenberger, Jr., Jack (Becky Marshall) Kaffenberger, Sr., Michael Kaffenberger, Sr., Steven (Tammy) Kaffenberger, and Lora (Perry) Widener; her grandchildren, Jennifer (Josh) Thacker, Nicole (Eric) Perkins, Jack Kaffenberger, Jr., Tracey Marshall, Eric Marshall, Michael (Kyra) Kaffenberger, Jr., Ashley (Wes) Givens, Steven Kaffenberger, Jeffrey (Ashley Akers) Kaffenberger, Brandon (Morgan) Kaffenberger; Jodi (Robert) Konar, Jessica (Bruce Grawood) McCann, and Cody (Raven) Widener; and her daughter-in-law, Dawn Kaffenberger.

Rita is also survived by her great grandchildren, Jared, Joslyn and Jace Thacker, Riley Perkins, Kadyn, Edwards, Riley Kaffenberger, Brooklyn Brayden and Reid Kaffenberger, Madison and Kayden McAllister, Cassey Givens, Brooklyn, Parker, and Katie Kaffenberger, Kam and Ayley Kaffenberger, Oakleigh and River Kaffenberger, Emilie and Hannah Greene, Kaisley McCann, Brayden, Corbin, Toby and Kyler Widener; her brother, Roger McEowen; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Mary Kathern McEowen, William (Barbara) Young, Walter (Betty) Young, Sam (Barbara) Grice, Scott (Jessica) Young, Mary Young, Karen Young, Shirley Young, and Nancy Young.

She will be missed by her special friends, Wilma Young Flack, Barbara Zacharias, Rand and Sonya Lauterbach, Karissa Lauterbach, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Turner, and her very special dog Peanut, who was the apple of Rita’s eye.

A celebration of Rita’s life will take place at 12:00 PM on Saturday, January 9, 2021, at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville Campus with Pastor George Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in Brock Cemetery.
