Brian C. Lynch, 60, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2020 after a long, brave battle with Primary Progressive Aphasia, a rare neurodegenerative disease. Brian was born on March 7, 1960 in Chapel Hill, NC to Richard and Jean Lynch.

He was raised in Charlotte and graduated from West Mecklenburg High School (1978) and UNC-Charlotte (1982) with a BS in Economics. He owned a mobile phone agency then embarked on a 20-year career as a top performing Real Estate Broker. At RE/MAX, he achieved Platinum Club, Chairman's Club, Hall of Fame, and Lifetime Achievement awards.

Brian had a huge passion for athletics. In his youth, he was an accomplished swimming champion and participated in many sports including basketball, football, baseball, and golf. After starring on the Coulwood Braves Junior High School championship basketball team, he received all conference football honors at West Mecklenburg High School, and then attended Wofford College on an athletic/academic scholarship for basketball. His speed and athleticism were spotted by an NFL scout for the Dallas Cowboys. Unfortunately, an injury prohibited him from pursuing this opportunity.

Brian also was an avid, single-digit handicap golfer and will be remembered (especially at Ballantyne Country Club) as “Longball” for his prowess in hitting long drives. His later athletic endeavors included mountain biking and rock climbing, two mentally and physically challenging sports with a certain level of danger which made them all the more exciting to him. He traveled frequently to stunning climbing/biking sites enjoying the camaraderie of his climbing/biking buddies and being out in nature. Even to the end, he continued to walk in the woods until his body would no longer comply.

Brian shared his many other hobbies with his friends and family. He was an avid music lover and talented, self-taught guitar player. He serenaded us with his acoustic guitar, which traveled with him everywhere, from his honeymoon to his climbing trips. Brian was a voracious reader and passionate about many topics, especially the history of World War II. He enjoyed lively discussions on historical and current events, always with a twinkle in his eye. He was known for his happy demeanor, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit. He may be gone, but he will never be forgotten. His spirit will live on through all who had the opportunity to know him well.

In addition to his parents, Richard and Jean Lynch; Brian is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Lesley Moore Lynch; brother, Todd Lynch; sisters, Lisa Lynch Clarke and Tammy Richardson (Brian); in-laws, Lauren Nelson (Steve) and Libby Palmer (Tom); nieces, Madison Clarke, Lyn Nelson, Kari Jacott (Dan), Jaymi Danz (Steve); nephews, Mark Sagvold, John Palmer (Michelle), Tim Palmer, and Thomas Hege (Andrea).

A graveside service to celebrate his life will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park cemetery (7315 Pleasant Grove Rd, Charlotte, NC, 28216). Please respect all COVID-19 recommended practices. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church (www.pleasantgrovecharlotte.com) or the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (www.theaftd.org).
