Betty grew up in the town of West and later attended Baylor University receiving both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in education. She married her husband Arthur Flynn, and had one daughter, Carol. They lived in Houston for over 60 years. Betty was an active member of Tallowood Baptist Church and volunteered in their mission programs teaching Japanese American women English, mission work and outreach for the Navajo in New Mexico, and with the process of the construction of church facilities in Acuna, Mexico. She enjoyed Baylor alumni organizations, going to book reviews, attending Bible study, and attended her church exercise program every week day. Her greatest joy was hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park with Arthur, family, and friends. Her hiking backpack was covered in trail badges; a tradition that continues with her great grandchildren Hayden and Flynn. Betty was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2006. Arthur and Betty moved to Galveston Island to be with Carol and Hank. In 2020 the family moved to San Antonio, but a year later Betty contracted and passed away from Covid19.
