Eric Stephen Ferguson, 77, of Wichita passed away January 1, 2021 at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita.


Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, January 8, 2021 at the Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery in Winfield. There will be a time of visitation from 5-7 P.M. Thursday, January 7 at the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Winfield, the Rosary will be prayed at 7 P.M. following the viewing. Memorial contributions for Eric may be made to Our Daily Bread Food Pantry and the St. Anthony’s Family Shelter, contributions may be left in care of the Shelley Family Funeral Home – 803 Loomis St. Winfield, KS 67156.

Eric was born June 15, 1943 in Wichita, the son of Mason and Doris (Frony) Ferguson. He attended Kapaun Catholic High School in Wichita. Eric enlisted in the Navy in 1960 and was honorably discharged in 1964. He worked as a carpenter and also trimmed trees, Eric enjoyed fishing, gardening, going to church and talking about God.

He is survived by his sons: Eric Ferguson Jr., David Ferguson, Gregory Ferguson and daughters: Mary Lathem, Joan Frazier, Lucy Ferguson and Barbara Finny; siblings: Mary E. Vetter, Margaret E. Ida, and John Ferguson, as well as 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife Sherry A. Ferguson, his infant son Christopher Ferguson, his Parents Mason and Doris Ferguson, and siblings: Judith A. Mcintosh, Dianna Kelso, and Catherine J. Ferguson.
