Robert Duane “Bob” Bunting age 87, of St. Louis, MI, passed away Tuesday, December 25, 2018, at his home with his loving wife at his side.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 28, 2018 at 11:00 A.M., at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis, MI. There will be a Funeral Service at 1:00 P.M. with his grandson Thomas Bunting officiating.
Robert was born in Rosebush, MI on March 17, 1931, the son of Jesse and Jessie (Deming) Bunting.
Bob attended Shepherd Public Schools. He proudly served his family and country in the United States Marine Corps as a Corporal during the Korean War. On March 18, 1957 Bob married Cora Joan Lintemuth in Leroy, MI. Bob was a member of the St. Louis VFW post #3055 and the St. Louis Moose Lodge. He was an operator at Leonard/Total Refinery for 31 years. Bob was a professional auto mechanic in his home garage. He was a farmer at heart, cultivating the gardens of dozens of area families. Late this fall, Bob was still using his tractor to do the work that he loved. Bob was a man's man; a man of his word. He was a smart worker and passed his wisdom on to his sons. Bob enjoyed multiple trips to Canada fishing with family and friends. Throughout their 61 years of marriage Bob and Joan loved traveling down the back roads and spending time with their children and grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Joan, sons: Randy (Gina) Bunting of Bay City, David (Ann) Bunting of St. Louis, Steven Bunting of St. Louis, and Roger (Patti) Bunting of Ithaca; 12 grandchildren: Josh, Jake, Valerie, Thomas, Kyle, Jordan, Matthew, Luke, Jessica, Zackery, Sarah, and Rachael; and 7 great grandchildren.
He is also survived by sisters-in-law: Mona Bunting, Leatrice "PeeWee' Freiberg, and Joyce Lintemuth; and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, and 3 brothers: Alan (Beulah), Hazen (Hildred), and Marvin.
