Mary Lou Kennedy Newsome, 80, of Salvisa, widow of Caleb Donald Newsome died Monday, January 4, 2021 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville. Born April 22, 1940 in Albany KY, she was the daughter of the late Joe Lloyd and Laura Mae Peercy Kennedy. She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Church, a retired Walmart Claims Manager for thirty years and a Bus Monitor for the Mercer County School System for eight years. She enjoyed quilting, fishing, working puzzles, going to yard sales and cooking for her family.
Survivors include one son: Greg (Vonda) Newsome of Salvisa, one daughter: Cindy (John) Canter of Nicholasville and her friend and companion James Donald Logue of Harrodsburg. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Matt (Laura) Newsome, Laura Canter, Jenna Canter, Cassandra Bohman, Amber (Chad) Rakes and five great grandchildren: Kyler Rakes, Hunter Rakes, Conner Rakes, Emily Bohman and Zachary Bohman.
She was preceded in death by one brother: Joe Kennedy, Jr.
Funeral services will be conducted, 1:00 P.M., Saturday, January 9, 2021 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Derek Baker officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery with Matt Newsome, Chad Rakes, Hunter Rakes, Virgil Shannon Martin, Carter Logue, Zane Lewis and Roy Freeman serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Laura Canter, Jenna Canter, Laura Newsome, Amber Rakes, Cassandra Bohman, Conner Rakes, Emily Bohman, Zachary Bohman, Jimmy Howard, Charles Hartman, Pete Elliott and Eddie Horn.
Visitation will be held 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Friday, January 8, 2021 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home and after 7:00 A.M., Saturday, January 9, 2021.
