Gertrude (Van Till) Hekman, 100, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2020, in Grand Rapids, MI. She was born and lived most of her life in Ripon, CA, where she was active as a homemaker and secretary to husband Martin, Director of Bethany Home. They were both active in church and community services and were strong promoters of Christian education. In retirement they often served with the Red Cross in disaster relief.

She was predeceased by Martin (1998).

Gertrude has 7 children, Lois Vander Wel of Grand Rapids, MI; Janice Holwerda of Grand Rapids, MI; James (Kathy) Hekman of Holland, MI; Donald (Martha) Hekman of Kemptville, Ontario; Shirley (Ken) Vander Wall of Canton, MI; Edwin (Sue) Hekman of Chula Vista, CA; Kenneth (Marybeth) Hekman of Holland, MI; 22 grandchildren (5 deceased); 32 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild. She is also survived by her sister Edith Den Dulk (Marvin) of Ripon, CA, and brother Howard Van Till (Betty) of Grand Rapids, MI; and preceded in death by her sister Marjorie Vander Schuur (Robert) of Ripon, CA.

A Memorial Service for immediate family is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 6, at 3 PM. It can be viewed via live-stream on the Woodlawn CRC website http://woodlawncrc.org/live-stream/. Burial will be in the Ripon Cemetery in Ripon, CA. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
