RICHARD W. ANDERT
SEPTEMBER 4, 1927 – JANUARY 4, 2021

Richard William Andert went to be with our Lord and Savior on January 4, 2021. He joined his loved ones in Heaven including: his wife, Alice Joy Andert; his son, Gregory; daughter, Camilla: his mother, Florence; father, Paul; and many brothers and sisters. He leaves behind his children: Kimberly, Daniel, Julie, Amy, Jennifer, Chris, and Eric; 13 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; his brother, Dave, sister, Bette; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Richard was born on September 4, 1927, in West Bend, Iowa. Later, his family moved to Minnesota. He grew up on a farm and was one of 8 siblings.

In the early 1960s, he moved to Las Vegas. He was a 40-year-old bachelor when he married Joy, who already had 4 children. Then, they had 5 more.

We all remember some of the same stories about growing up. There were those long car rides to Minnesota from Vegas. Dad would only buy raw hot dogs and orange punch for the 4-day trip there and the same menu for the long trip back home. We have fond memories of the wonderful texture and the greasy film on the roofs of our mouths!

It was a huge treat when he would take us to get the 10 cent Thrifty ice cream cones and when he brought donuts at 3:00 in the morning when he arrived home from work as a cook at the test site.

He was such a hard worker, and he taught all of us to work, work, work from an early age, whether we liked it or not! He also made sure we made it to church on Sunday mornings. From Dad, we all learned to have a strong work ethic, believe in God, and to appreciate everything!

Hopefully, in Heaven, he can still watch Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy with eyes that work perfectly and aren't painful! Hopefully, there are McDonald's Carmel Frappes and buffets!

Until we meet again, life won't ever be the same, and we will always have a missing piece in our hearts and our lives without him.
