Ellen Louise Collins
SEPTEMBER 18, 1927 – DECEMBER 17, 2020

Ellen Louise Collins, September 18, 1927 – December 17, 2020. Citrus Heights, California. Ellen Louise Collins, 93, passed away peacefully after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Both her sons, Michael and Russell were at her side and were able to comfort her in her final hours.

Ellen is survived by her two sons, Michael Collins of Citrus Heights, and Russell Collins of Shreveport, Louisiana, eight grandchildren and 13 great grand children. Ellen is proceeded in death by her parents, Joe and Doretta Lahr, her husband William Collins, daughters Doreen Fancher and Cathy Collins, bothers Donald and Ronald Lahr and sister JoAnn Koch.

Ellen Collins was a long time resident of Citrus Heights where she lived for 73 years in the house that she and her husband built in 1947. She was a stay at home mother and dedicated her time to taking care of her family. She was best known for her garage sales. Her many customers were always excited to see the garage sales signs on the street corners. Many arrived with open arms for the “ Queen of Garage Sales”. Ellen was also a meticulous book keeper with a journal of every penny spent for the past seven decades. One of her favorite phrases was, “Let me get my book”.

Even though in her final years, Ellen never ventured far from her house, she touched so many people in so many different ways. Her sincere and caring personality enabled her to make friends with just about anyone she came in contact with. She will be dearly missed by all who lives she touched.

Ellen requested a simple grave side service for her friends and family to say goodbye. Ellen was supporter of the American Red Cross COVID-19 relief fund and the family asks that in lieu of flowers, a donation be sent to the American Red Cross to aid the victims of COVID 19. Her service will be held at Sylvan Cemetery on December 24, 2020 at 10:00. Social distancing will be practiced along with the wearing of face masks.
