Ella Ruth Perkins Taylor, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend went home to be with Jesus on Monday, January 4, 2021 at the age of 79 while wrapped in the loving arms of her daughter, Rhonda, at Good Shepherd Hospital in Longview.

Ella Ruth was born on February 14, 1941 in Kilgore, TX to the late Howard Allison Perkins and Sybil Jackie Fulgham Perkins. She graduated from Kilgore High School in 1959 and attended Kilgore College. Mrs. Taylor was a longtime member of Forest Home Baptist Church and Friendship Sunday school class and her faith in Christ showed clearly in her daily life. Ella Ruth retired from Kilgore Public School District where she worked as secretary for the Special Education Department.

Ella Ruth was a loving and caring person who will be missed by all that knew her. Her infectious laugh, sense of humor, and ability to carry on lively conversations with anyone, made her a joy to be around. Ella Ruth loved traveling, reading, spending time with family, and especially talking to and hanging out with her “sweet little rosebud” – granddaughter, Tara.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Mary Jean Sanders Myers and Jackie Johnson.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 59 years, James D. Taylor of Kilgore; daughter, Rhonda Chinn and husband Ken of Longview; granddaughter, Tara Taylor Chinn of Longview; sister, Nelda Thompson and husband Alton of Kilgore, brother-in-law, David Johnson of Kilgore; nephews Ferrell Perkins of Kilgore, Gary Thompson of Kilgore, Greg Thompson and wife Nancy of Kilgore, Jody Sanders and wife Julyann of Kilgore, Taylor Schleier and wife Amanda of Houston, Garrett Schleier of Kilgore; nieces, Laura Johnson of Kilgore, Amanda Parker of Kilgore, Jennifer Fisk and husband Phillip of Big Sandy, and Lisa Sanders of Longview; as well as several great nieces and nephews and adoring friends.

Graveside services for Ella Ruth Perkins Taylor, 79 of Kilgore will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Danville Cemetery Pavilion with Rev. Mark Fried officiating. Family will receive friends from 5:00 ~ 6:30 p.m. Tuesday evening at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore.
