He is loved and remembered by his wife Cathy (Powell) Evans and daughter Athena McQueen Evans. The son of Elaine D.A. Evans of Hamburg and the late Gerald David Evans, he is also survived by his sisters, Geraldine Evans and her husband Jeff Crawford (St Albans, UK) and Gretchen (Evans) Levan and her husband Steven (Hamburg, PA) as well as his brother Geoffrey Evans (Alsace Twp), and many nieces and nephews.
Born in Hennepin, MN, Ditto graduated from Muhlenberg High School in 1988 before joining the Navy and serving on USS Ranger during Desert Shield. He went on to graduate Summa Cum Laude from Kutztown University in 2005 receiving his Bachelor's Degree in History and received a Master's of Arts degree in Military History from Norwich University in 2018. His love and passion for history led him to a career in teaching at Hamburg Area High School and to become a Teaching Fellow at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.
Ditto had a great love for the outdoors and spent many pleasant hours with his daughter Athena fishing from the bank of a river, marching through fields and woodlands in search of game and adventure, and trapping. In his younger years, he enjoyed Micro Sprint Racing, driving car #65. He was a proud supporter of the New York Yankees and the Cleveland Browns and could be found watching the game with his beloved beagles whenever he could. A great fan of The Who, he and the family regularly hit the road and attended concerts whenever possible. Ditto's laughter, humor, sensibility and loyalty will be missed by his family and friends forever.
Graveside services will be held Friday, January 8, 2021 at 3:00 pm in St. Peter's UCC Cemetery, 219 Maidencreek Road, Fleetwood, PA 19522. Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., Leesport is in charge of arrangements.
