Michael J. Stephens, 35, of Streator passed away Saturday, January 2, 2021 at O.S.F. St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Msgr. Philip Halfacre will officiate.

Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery, Streator. Pallbearers will be, John Van Fleet, Brandon Himan, Gabe Macias, Dion, Ryan & Ethan Newby.

Born July 30, 1985 in Streator, he was the son of James and Laurie (Mueller) Stephens. They survive in Streator.

He is also survived by his sisters, Christina (Gabe Macias) Stephens of Streator, Jacque (John) Van Fleet of Yorkville, Michelle Stephens of Streator and Katie (Brandon) Himan of Streator; nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator.

Mike was a great son, brother, uncle and friend. He was a kind person with the ability to either make you laugh or frustrate you with his practical jokes. He enjoyed golfing, the outdoors and sports, especially baseball and football cheering on the Chicago White Sox and the Kansas City Chiefs. One of his favorite memories was snowboarding in Jackson Hole, WY. He was a fun guy who was always up for a good time, and he was the type of person who never met a stranger. He was always a great sport being the middle child of 5, in between four sisters, and often referred to as the "middle sister". He would never hesitate to help a sister out and was a protector as well. He was a wonderful uncle to Evan, Noah, Caleb, Valerie, Adalynn, Abigail and Edison and wore the term "funcle" well. He will be missed greatly by all who knew him.

Although services will be private, a celebration of life will be held at a later date this summer.

Memorials may be directed to the White Sox Charities.
