Julie Lee (Beddow) Smith, age 69, passed away in her home in Council Bluffs on January 3, 2021.

One of 5 children, she was born in Jefferson, Iowa January 22, 1951 to Harold and Gayle Beddow. Julie graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1969. She worked 33 years at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs as a registered nurse until her retirement in 2006.

Julie loved great food and going out to eat with her family and friends. She enjoyed traveling and sipping on a glass of wine at 5 o’clock sharp. Julie was an inspiration to all with her faith and passion of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. At the time of her death, Julie was a member of the Jaynes Street Community Church of God in Omaha, NE. She was selfless and was always offering advice and a helping hand to anyone in her life that needed it. Her love for her family and only daughter was strong and anyone that knew her knew that family was the core of her existence. You never met anyone that you admired or respected more. Julie was loved deeply and will leave a hole in many peoples hearts and lives.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Gayle; brother, Jan Beddow; sister, Sara Beddow; brother-in-law, Clifton “Rink” Holly, and Dr. Prasit Deesuk.

Julie is survived by her daughter, Sara Nelle and her husband, Anthony; sister, Susan Holly; brother, Joel Beddow and wife, Bonnie; life partner, Richard Olsen; grandchildren, Collin Smith, Vira Nelle, and Lailah Nelle; many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Open visitation Wednesday 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with the family present from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service Thursday 10:00 at Cutler-O’Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery.
