Tulia, Texas--Geraldine Ward Brown entered her eternal life with her Lord and Savior on January 1, 2021. Geraldine was born on May 25, 1926 in Tulia, Texas to Willie Todd Ward and Robert “Bob” Ward. She had one younger sister, LaJuana “Sissy” Huggins. Geraldine married Lloyd Brown on May 25, 1944. Geraldine & Lloyd had one daughter, LaVon Brown Williams.

Most of Geraldine’s friends knew her as “Jerry”. She lived in Tulia all her life, except for the last few years where she was in a nursing facility in Frisco, Texas so that she could be near her granddaughter.

Geraldine worked outside the home throughout most of her years in Tulia. She worked for many years at A & H Printing until her retirement in the early 1980’s. In her spare time, Geraldine became an accomplished bowler. She occasionally would travel to attend tournaments with the “bowling girls”. She also loved to work in her yard making sure it was free from weeds. After retirement, Geraldine spent much of her time volunteering at the Tulia Senior Center. She most often organized senior citizen trips and would drive the touring van on those trips throughout the country and even, Canada. Geraldine also volunteered at the Government Assistance Office helping to distribute food to those in need. She also enjoyed helping at the Tulia Sale Barn during their cattle auctions.

Geraldine is preceded in death by both of her parents, Bob and Willie Ward, her sister, LaJuana (Sissy) Huggins, and her daughter, LaVon Brown Williams.

Geraldine is survived by her son-in law, Steve Williams of Corpus Christi, Texas; two grandchildren, Shawn Weiss Satre & spouse, Dennis of Frisco, Texas; Shane Weiss & spouse, Shannon of Corpus Christi, Texas. She was the proud great grandmother of four: Brennon Satre & spouse, Kelly, Jacob Satre, Meredith Satre & Logan Weiss. She most recently became a great-great grandmother to Calvin Satre in 2020.

The family wishes that all of Geraldine’s family and friends could gather to celebrate the wonderful life she had in Tulia, but due to Covid-19 precautions, this will not be possible. A private family service is set for Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 2:00pm at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel in Tulia. Following the service, there will be an interment ceremony at Rose Hill Cemetery in Tulia. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Geraldine’s honor to Tulia Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 116, Tulia, Texas 79088 or to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.
