He was born December 21, 1950, in Oakland, California. Mr. Carey was a resident of Mossy Head, Florida. He was a veteran of the United States Armed Forces, serving his country in the United States Army. He received an Army Occupational Medal, a National Defense Service Medal, Sharp Shooter M-14, Expert M-16 M60, and was a German-language intercept operator. He also worked as a police officer in California for twenty years before retiring. He also worked as a law enforcement officer for the Walton County Sheriff’s Department for ten years. He enjoyed traveling, reading, and golfing. He also enjoyed spending time with his family.
Mr. Carey is preceded in death by his father and mother.
Mr. Carey is survived by his son, Thomas Carey of Mossy Head, Florida; his stepdaughter, Dawn Bryant and husband John of Largo, Florida; his brother, Mike Carey and wife Diane of Georgia; his sister, Jane Sinkey and husband Bill; and two grandchildren, Delaney Bryant and Walker Bryant.
Memorialization will be by cremation.
