April Kay Brown (Buckalew) went to be with the Lord on December 31,2020,
April was born on September 1,1970 in Indianapolis, IN to Richard and Brenda Buckalew. Her family moved to Wichita Falls in 1979 where she remained and attended school. She graduated from Hirschi High School in 1989. She worked for Howmet, BCBS, and several doctors in Wichita Falls before retiring from Sheppard AFB Hospital as a medical coder.
On June 6, 2009 she married Thomas Brown and moved to Dallas where she resided until her death.
April was a Prayer Warrior. She would pray for anyone, anywhere, for any reason with energy and passion. She was a member of Legacy Church of God for many years.
She was a wonderful mother who would have done anything for her children and even her nieces and nephews. She was our protector. She was more than just an aunt or sister; she was a second mother to her nieces and nephews. She was a second mother to her siblings. She gave the best advice (even when not requested) and would always make time to listen.
April made friends for life. People were just drawn to her. Her smile, her laugh and her genuine love was amazing. April enjoyed life and was never happier than the day she became a Nana in 2013. She lived the last 7 years for her grandchildren Lillianna, Cayson, and the newest addition Paisley. Her grandchildren were everything to her. She enjoyed taking them to the zoo, children’s aquarium, and the park any time she had a chance.
April was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Brenda Buckalew; her brother, Richard Buckalew; and her grandson, Jayden.
She is survived by her husband of 11 years, Thomas Brown; her daughter, Ashley Lee; son, Dalen Dews and wife Kayla; grandchildren, Lillianna Mitchell, Cayson Dews, and Paisley Dews; sister, Kimberly Seddon and brother-in-law Brent Seddon; nieces, Jessenda Shults and fiancé Cory Criswell, KayLee Allen and fiancé Jacob Stepherson, and Hannah Buckalew; nephews, Nicholas Buckalew and fiancé Maricella Longoria, and Jacob Buckalew and fiancé Lena Barron; and sister-in-law, Mechelle Stone; as well as several great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
