Nora Hubscher Skolka of Stevensville, MD, passed away in the arms of her family on Friday, May 15, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore. Nora was born on May 3, 1959 in Silver Spring, MD, and was the daughter of the late Carmen Hubscher and Eleanor Woodring.
She had a gift for working with children and was a Teacher Assistant at Kent Island Elementary School. In her spare time, Nora enjoyed gardening, baking, home projects, boating and spending time with her family and friends.
Nora is survived by her husband, Douglas Skolka; children, Megan Stiefel, Megan's husband Phil Stiefel, and Stephanie Skolka; stepfather Joseph Woodring; Stepbrother Glenn Woodring; mother-in-law, Mary Ann Skolka; brother-in-law, Dr. James Skolka; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers Steven and Lynn Hubscher.
A memorial visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26, at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newman Funeral Home, P.A. in Chester, MD. Funeral home staff indicated that Mrs. Skolka was cremated and the cremains were picked up by her husband.
