Roland David Routh, son of Addis Routh and Gladys Marie (Bailey) Routh, was born on June 12, 1926, in Clearfield, Ia. He was educated in the Clearfield Community Schools and graduated from there with the class of 1945. Ronnie enlisted with the United States Army in 1945 and served his country from 23 months, until his honorable discharge in 1946.
Ronnie was united in marriage to Bonnie Jean Thompson on June 29, 1952, in Clearfield. Together they resided in Clearfield for a year then they moved to Creston where Ronnie co-owned and operated the City Service Station with his brother Richard for 2 years. Ronnie then did trucking with Creston Transfer as a dispatch and back-up driver. He later purchased the business and ran it until the mid 1980s. Ronnie also farmed, raised chickens for 28 years and did custom harvesting until his partial retirement in 2015.
Ronnie was a member of the Elks Lodge in Creston, a charter member of the 100 point Ducks Unlimited Chapter, Platte River Sports Complex and the Clearfield Lions Club. He was former member of the VFW and the Eagles Club.
Ronnie is survived by his son Brett (Tawnya) Routh Creston; three grandchildren, Stephanie (ben) Reed of Des Moines, Jeffery “J.D.” (Mackenzie) Routh of Creston and Jacob”Jade” Routh of Creston; great-grandson Oliver Reed; brother Bill (Anna) Routh of Coffee Creek, Mont.; sister Gwen (Spencer) Sandeman of Creston and sister-in-law Marilyn Routh of Whiting, Ia., and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Bonnie in 2017, brothers, Mick, J.B., Rich and Bernard Routh and a sister in infancy Betty Sue Routh.
