Richard "Dick" Victor Andrews
April 19, 1940 - December 13, 2020

After a lengthy and arduous battle against cancer, Richard "Dick" Andrews passed away on December 13, 2020. He was born on April 19, 1940, to Helen (Slaasted) Andrews and Victor Andrews in Racine, WI. Graduating from Racine's Washington Park High School in 1959, he went on to further his education at the University of Wisconsin's Racine Extension.

His business career centered on his keen ability and success as a manufacturer's representative, spanning nearly 40 years with key industrial vendors. He never found a product line for which he could not meet the sale, representing companies such as Armstrong Chemical, Cardinal Fastener, General Bolt Screw and Capital Building Supply. Even his love of the Wisconsin State Pastry, the Racine Danish Kringle, led him to be the first to bring this "yummy" treat to the Indianapolis area through the former O'Malia and Marsh supermarkets.

Always up to the challenge, Dick took on modeling assignments for several local Indianapolis clothiers, even appearing on local TV segments, as stores introduced new lines for the season. His hands could often be seen in use on product videos as they turned and displayed featured industrial products.

Family time spent in Racine created many memories as Dick introduced his children to the beauty of the annual Christmas lights at the Wiery Estate, visits to the Racine Zoo, strolls on the Lake Michigan beach and the joviality of the annual Slaasted Christmas parties and summer picnic reunions. Watching the July 4the Racine parade brought back fond memories of his fond memories of his participation as a member of the prestigious Racine Kiltie Drum and Bugle Corps which performed in parades throughout the state.

His family will always remember summer vacations in the Wisconsin Northwoods at Spider Lake where Dick and his brother Bill would set off many a morning to fish, in hopes of catching "the elusive big one," only to realize that the search would have to continue the next year...again the "big one got away."

He is preceded in death by his parents. His presence will be greatly missed by his sister Margaret (Wilbur) Trowbridge, Kronenwetter, WI, and his brother William (Terri), Arbor Vitae, WI. He is also survived by his former wife Merilee.

Dick always took great pride in the many successes of his children Kent (Kristy) Andrews, Fishers, IN; Ryan Andrews, New Palestine, IN; Jeannine (Michael) Suarez, Noblesville, IN; Eleene Moore-Andrews, Jacksonville, NC.

Known as "GPA" to his loving grandchildren Nathan, Victor, Olivia, Braeden and Alex Andrews; and, Riley and Michaela Suarez, will deeply miss his companionship. He is also survived by a niece and four nephews.

A memorial mass at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 22, will be held at St. Pius X Church, 7200 Sarto Drive, Indianapolis. Visitation starts at 1:30pm. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for his birthday April 19th.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 42040, Oklahoma City, OK, 73123.
