She was raised and educated in Mattapan, and a graduate of Boston Schools. She was a resident of Stoughton for over 55 years and was a dedicated mother and homemaker.
She was the mother of Janet M. McKinnon, and Daniel F. McKinnon. She was the sister of the late John Henry Penning (1920-1944, during World War II), and William Thomas Penning (1938-2006).
