York - David M. Brandt, 77, passed away Sunday, December 27, 2020 at UPMC Hospital in York following a brief illness.

David was born November 16, 1943 in Spring Garden Township, York, Pennsylvania. He was a son of the late Kauffman and Priscilla (Grimm) Brandt. David was a 1961 graduate of York Suburban High School and served in the United States Air Force immediately after graduation. He also attended classes at York Technical Institute. He was a creative and talented artist from an early age and had several drawings published in the York Junior Dispatch while still in elementary school. As an adult he illustrated the humor book, Man School in 1990. He continued to create works of art throughout his life including birthday and holiday cards which he illustrated and captioned in a humorous manner that always got a laugh from family members. Some of his many interests included fishing, hiking, playing cards and watching and critiquing movies. He loved his family and his dogs and was a good father and a generous person.

David is survived by his long-time companion, Melody Mills, his son, Hudson Brandt, four grandchildren, Aaron, Calum, Conner and Kira Brandt. He is also survived by three sisters, Jean G. Mitzel, Priscilla I. Stickell and husband Ed, and Becky A. Brandt-Landis, and two brothers, Perry R. Brandt and wife Lorie, and Kevin M. Brandt as well as four nieces and two nephews. He will be sadly missed by his entire family.

There will be no viewing or funeral. Donations can be made to the York County SPCA in lieu of flowers.
