Jane Klein King, of Solebury Township, died at the age of 95 on December 22, 2020.

Her husband, Robert Edward King, a professor of pharmacy at the University of the Sciences (formerly Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science), died in 2008.

Jane was born in Fort Washington and attended the Upper Dublin Schools and Cheltenham High School. She received a B.A. degree from Oberlin College and a Master's Degree in Education from Temple University. She was a reading specialist, taught first and second grades, and later taught in elementary schools in Lansdowne and the New Hope-Solebury School District for more than 30 years. Following her retirement from public schools, she taught preschool music at Sunny Day in the Stockton, N.J. Presbyterian Church, and at Trinity Episcopal Church in Solebury.

Jane was an active member of St. Philip's Episcopal church in New Hope for over 50 years, where she taught Sunday School, served on the Altar Guild, and sang in the choir. She started the Duduza Doll mission and encouraged others to knit small dolls for children around the world who have nothing.

She played the violin in the Bucks County Symphony and in the Serenata String Quartet. She also played autoharp for the "Christmas in the Country" House Tour program in Sergeantsville, N.J. Jane hosted an informal recorder group "Upward and Onward", which met in her home. She was a member of Patchwork, a storytelling Guild; she told stories at the Mercer Museum for their "Doll's Day Out" programs, and at the "Haunted Trails Night" at Honey Hollow Nature Center in Solebury.

She was a member of the Philadelphia branch of the Dickens Fellowship and the Solebury Farmer's Club.

After being trained at the Doylestown Hospital, Jane became a Lay Chaplain at Pine Run Lakeview, an assisted living facility in Doylestown.

Jane is survived by a sister, Carolyn Burrell of Sellersville, two daughters: Susan J. of Solebury, and Dr. Christina King Smith of Ardmore, son-in-law, Timothy Smith, and granddaughter Charlotte. She had three sons: Timothy Paul of Providence, Utah, daughter-in-law, Pamela, and twin granddaughters, Heather and Rebecca; son, Peter Robert of Oxford, Pa., daughter-in-law Laura, and three granddaughters: Victoria, Elizabeth, and Catherine, and two great-grandchildren, Porter and Jane; son, Jonathan David of Rock Hall, Md., daughter-in-law, Marlayn, and grandson, Nathan Robert.
