Jean Marie Baker, of Auburn passed away peacefully, Tuesday morning December 22,2020 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by the huge family she created and loved dearly.

She was a life resident of Auburn, the daughter of the late Susanne and Andrew Murphy. Retired from Cornell Cooperative Extension after 25 years of employment and also spent her life raising all 10 of her children. She worked hard daily to make sure her kids were fed, clothed and had shelter. Always putting others happiness first above her own. Jeannie had a huge heart, always so kind and gentle. She loved baking and cooking and was an amazing interior decorator. She was obsessed with Pioneer Woman. Her sense of style was phenomenal. Jeannie loved to shop and would look her best everyday, even if it meant you had to wait hours for her, appearance was important to her. Above everything, Jean loved being a mother and grandmother. She cherished all the special times she was fortunate enough to have with her ten children and 17 grandchildren. Jeannie Marie is the foundation of our family and is the glue that will keep us together. She will forever be in the hearts of those that loved her .

She is survived by her loving children, Lynette ( Jack) Gillespie , Kelly Baker, Dale Baker ( Heather O’Grady), Keith (Jodi) Baker, Tracie Baker-Murphy, Jami Baker ( Sara Fagan), Nikki Baker, Rocky ( Michelle) Purcell, Brandi Baker, seventeen grandchildren, AriannaJean, Isaiah, Jaydyn, Chayce, Jaylen, Liam, Jonelle, Alyvia, Kaitlyn, Lucas, Colin, Tom, Erin, Mikey, Alyssa, Rob , Craig , and several great- grandchildren, two sisters Debbie ( Dave) Howansky, Sue ( Ken) Ferris as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents she was also predeceased by her husband Richard Baker in 1972 and a daughter Darlene in 2017.

Calling hours are this Monday from 5-7 pm in the Pettigrass Funeral Home, 196 Genesee St. All NYS Covid regulations will be enacted and enforced. Jean’s Mass of Christian burial will be held this Tuesday at 12:00 pm in St. Mary’s Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, where she will be transported by a horse drawn carriage procession.
