Mabel Viola Greene was born October 6, 1894 in Roswell, New Mexico. The family eventually settled in Arkansas where Mabel worked as the town telephone operator in Bear, Arkansas.
She married Mack Jesse Standridge in 1916 and settled (for a time) in Arkansas and Missouri. They had 5 daughters together: Viola (born 1917); Vera (born either 1918 or 1919); Christine (born 1921); Pauline (born 1922); and Mildred (born 1927).
During World War II the family moved to California and settled in Sunnyvale. Mabel and Mack made a trip back to Arkansas to visit relatives in 1950. While there, Mack suffered a fatal heart attack. Mabel returned to the house in Sunnyvale and began working, retiring at the age of 65 in 1959.
Mabel continued to drive until she turned 82 (in 1976). Mabel passed away July 26, 1982 being survived by four of her daughters, seven grandchildren (Joyce, Richard, Cathy, Steve, Jim, Chuck, Charles) and one sister (Fannie Ellen Meeks).
