The Edwardsville native born May 6, 1932 daughter of the late Edward and Clara (Aldrup) Howerton.
1948 Edwardsville High School graduate, member of the Edwardsville First Baptist Church and active in the Silver Bells. Mom loved to dance to Big Band Music and was an avid bingo player.
Worked for many years as a switchboard PBX operator for Illinois Bell, Florists Mutual, SIUE and Hewlett Packard.
Preceded in death by her husbands; Elmer C. Schlemer and Leroy C. Barth. Brothers Harold and Kenneth "Dale" Howerton, sister Irma Belshaw and many brother and sister-in-laws.
Hilda passed on her sons 67th birthday.
