Patricia Marie Holte, 89, of Zumbro Falls, Minnesota, passed peacefully on December 5, 2020, with her Great Granddaughter by her side.
Patricia was born in Grand Marais, Minnesota, on February 17, 1931, and graduated from Cook County High School in 1949. She married Darrell Wayne Holte, on October 15, 1950.
Throughout her life, Pat was a woman of many talents and passions. She seamed gill nets with her Mom (Lillian) for commercial fishermen of Lake Superior, waitressed at the Happy Fisherman, ran a commercial fishing operation with her husband, was a telephone operator, a lab technician, a dog groomer, and taught line dancing classes. She especially excelled at being a loving wife, homemaker, and mother to the three children she raised with her husband when times were tough in Cook County, Minnesota. She always made sure there was food on the table and her family was well cared for.
Patricia was a true outdoors woman from hunting deer with her trusty Winchester 3030 to trapping mink and catching fish. Music was a large part of Pat’s life. She was a talented musician that could play piano, organ, and accordion and loved to play at dances and events. She played in dance bands throughout her life and that is what led her to the moment she caught the eye of the love of her life, Darrell.
She was a proud member of Eastern Star for 40 years and was involved in many clubs and community activities with her husband, including the VFW, American Legion, The Moose Club and The Young Old Timers Dance Group. They could really tear up a dance floor!
She is survived by one sister Honey (Tom) Eliason (Tennessee), one son Michael (Natasha) Holte (Oregon), two daughters: Lyanne Holte (Arizona) and Barbara Holte (Minnesota), one grandson Cameron (Faith) Sjoberg (Minnesota), three granddaughters: Jessica (John) Konig (Colorado), Dannielle Angell (Dave Ogden)( Minnesota), Ashley (Kevin) Solon (California), seven great-grandchildren: Jordan Bernard (Minnesota), Sacia Ogden (Minnesota), Jenna Bernard (Minnesota), Avery, Waylon, and Noelle Sjoberg (Minnesota), and Wyatt Solon (California).
We will be holding a Celebration of Life in Grand Marais, Minnesota, this spring. Details to be announced in April.
