Born in Monroe, NC, he was a son of the late Harvey J. Autrey and Rosie V. Deese Autrey and was married to Reba Gainey Autrey. He retired after many years as a truck driver and he loved fishing and gardening. He was a member of Wayside Baptist Church where he played the bass guitar and was a trustee.
Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years Reba Autrey of the home; his sons Danny (Betty) Autrey, Russell "Rusty" (Michelle) Autrey and a daughter-in-law Angela Autrey all of Pelion, SC; his grandchildren Catrina Autrey and her fiancé Charles Dheel, Brian (Lindsey) Autrey, Matthew Autrey and Benjamin Autrey, five great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son Thomas Elliott "Tommy" Autrey and all of his eleven brothers and sisters.
