"Pine Grove Pioneer Dies. H. N. Bodfish, one of the oldest residents of Pine Grove, passed away last week Wednesday...His funeral took place in Pine Grove on the 17th...a native of Massachusetts, aged 81 (sic)...he came to this coast in the early '60s. He was one of the pioneers of Virginia City, but left there and came to Pine Grove in 1866, and has been a resident of that camp since." in the Lyon County Times [Yerington, Nev.], 26 January 1907, p. 9.

Henry N. Bodfish is enumerated as a sailor and mariner respectively in the 1850 federal and 1855 state censuses at Barnstable, Massachusetts [Cape Cod].

In the May 1866 U.S. IRS Tax Assessment List for Nevada, H. N. Bodfish is listed on the same page with individuals from Silver City, the Ophir Mine, the Gould & Curry Mill, the Savage Mine, Virginia City, and the Bullion Mine [Virginia City].

Henry Bodfish is enumerated in the 1870, 1880, and 1900 federal censuses in Pine Grove as H. Bodfish, Henry N. Bodfish, and Henry Bodfish -- but always as a miner.
