Phillip Edward Baker
July 11, 1945 ~ December 31, 2020 (age 75)

Phillip Edward Baker was born July 11, 1945, in Charleston, South Carolina. Mr. Baker moved to Dublin with his family in 1950. He passed away on December 31, 2020, while in residence at Shamrock Nursing Home in Dublin, Georgia.

Mr. Baker was a 1963 graduate of Dublin High School and a graduate of Auburn University and a member of the ATO fraternity.

He was a past member of the Dublin-Laurens Chamber of Commerce where he served on the founding board of Dublin Clean Community Association, the Dublin Rotary Club, Dublin Country Club, Elks Lodge, and Moose Lodge. He also served a term as President of the Georgia Beer Wholesalers Association.

He worked in the family’s business, Southern Sales Company in East Dublin, Georgia most of his life. After moving to Savannah, Georgia he retired from Sonoco Corp. and returned to Dublin, Georgia.

Mr. Baker is survived by daughter, Dana Baker Blanchard (Tom) of Augusta, Georgia; stepdaughter, Robin Price Soos (Gyula); stepson, Michael Price (Amber); his brother, Kenneth Baker (Patsy); stepsisters, Susan Gloss Lee, Eslie Gloss Collins (Giles), Carolyn Gloss Dean (Elton), and Sandra Gloss Sibley. He was loved and will be missed by his many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul F. Baker Sr. and Katherine Martin Baker; stepmothers, Margie Thomas Baker and Jean Gloss Baker; brother, Paul Baker Jr.; sister, Dorothy Baker Hobart; nephew, Nicky Burch, and stepbrother, Mickey Gloss.

Graveside services will be held at Dublin Memorial Gardens at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 3, 2021, with the Rev. Donnie Baker officiating. Memorial donations may be sent to First United Methodist Church of Dublin, 305 West Gaines Street, Dublin, GA 31021 or P.O. Box 665, Dublin, GA 30140.
