Dick was nationally known for his welding and tree trimming abilities. He proudly served in the United States Navy for a 6 year term and on the USS Cowell in 1963.
Dick is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Verde, wife, Judy Faye (Moss) Bird; along with siblings Joe and Brenda. Survivors include his wife, Barbara (Peters) Bird of the home; his 4 children, Kay and her husband Leonard Humphreys of Duncan, Kathy and her husband Doug Cole of Wellston, Richard Bird of Sherman, Texas, Kelly Bird and wife Rhonda Lemons of Duncan; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren; siblings, Rachel and Joe, Duaine and Pat; siblings Margret, Freda, and Donna; along with other nieces, nephews, many cousins and friends.
At his personal request, there will be no formal service and he will be laid to rest in the Little Cemetery in Little, Oklahoma.
