Arthur Jean James was born on November 3, 1937 in Houston, TX to Arthur and Sederia Lemons. At an early age, Arthur confessed Christ at her personal Lord and Savior.

Arthur was affectionately known to her family and friends as "Tit". Tit was a very welcoming, outspoken and loving person. Tit enjoyed creating and designing things. She would create all kinds of things from holiday baskets. to Christmas bows, to designing wedding and funeral arrangements. Tit always had a way of making all her creations affordable for everyone! In contrary, Tit assisted Veterans and disable individuals with all their important documents. When anyone in the community was in need, Tit was the "bank" for everyone.

Arthur loved to care for others. She served as a caregiver for over 30 years. She loved to dance, the finer things, in life, her antique, her jewelry and most importantly her kids! Later, she met and began her courtship with the love of life, Andrew James, whom she was married to and loved unconditionally until God called him home. To this union they had seven children Fredrick, Angela, Debra, Craig, Mark, Terassa, and Tonya.

Arthur attended George Washington Carver High School. Arthur served as an active member at Community of Faith, formerly known as Mount Pillow Church under the leadership of Pastor Dixon. When her youngest son, Mark James, became Pastor and Founder of Word Temple of Praise, formerly known as Holy House of God, where she then transitioned her membership.

On Tuesday, December 22, 2020. Arthur Jean James entered into eternal rest. Her life and legacy will be cherished by those that were blessed to know and love her. Arthur was preceded in death by her husband Andrew James, parents Sederia and Arthur Lemons, daughter Terassa James and son Fredrick Lemons; brother Henry Lemons, sister Sederia Lang.

Her memory, smile and her legacy will be cherished by her children, Angela James, Debra James, Craig James, Mark (Sharmayne) James and Tonya Cook James; daughter in law Cora McGowan; Sister in law, Olphelia Lemons; grandchildren, Sha'Brittaney Graham, Donnie Cook Jr., Dymond Cook, Eumajesty James, Colby Nealy, Mark James Jr., Sade James, Cory Nealy, Lakeisha McGowan, Tina Barnes; great grandkids, Londyn Cadoree, Kobrial Pullem. Colby Jr., Jacolby Nealy, Rome Thomas, Xavier McGowan, Cameron Nealy; host of great great grandkids, nieces and nephews family members and friends.
