Cora was born in May 1876 in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania to Simon James Lawson and Sarah Jane Knight-Lawson. She moved with her family to Atchison, Kansas in 1880 when Cora was five years old. In May 1906, Cora was married to Fredrick Ross Shirck, a Lutheran minister. Cora is survived by her daughter, Rachel Shirck. Cora May's funeral services were held on Wednesday July 26, 1944 and she was buried in Oaklawn Cemetery.
