Catherine V (Farmer) Barnes, 77, of Arkansas City, died Wednesday (December 30, 2020) at SCKMC. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Monday (January 4, 2021) at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Parker Cemetery. Pastor Kyle Carson will officiate.
The casket will be open for friends 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Those attending visitation or services are required to follow all Covid-19 mandates including the wearing of a mask and social distancing. The funeral service will be live streamed to the funeral home website.
Catherine was born January 15, 1943, in Marlow, Oklahoma, to Willie V. and Madge Farmer. She was reared and educated in Oklahoma. She received her degree in business technology at Oklahoma City Business College.
Catherine worked in multiple grade schools in Arkansas City for many years as building secretary and aide before retiring in 2008. She enjoyed every student and staff member she worked with. She was a member of the Kansas Association of Retired School Personnel. She was also a long time member of the Northside Baptist Church. Catherine enjoyed her family, reading, and had the best green thumb with her house plants.
Survivors include her brother Gerald Farmer and wife Annetta, Sisters Linda and husband Waylon Knapp, Geneva and husband Buddy Hudson; all of Oklahoma. Daughters Roxanna and husband Matt James, Rene’e and husband, Leroy Prosser, and Monica Barnes; all of Arkansas City. Grandchildren Colgan James, Chelsea Metzinger, Chelbie Saunders, Amber Prosser, Jeremy Prosser, Jacob Prosser, Carrie Bottoms, Jennifer Barnes, Chance Barnes, Chas Barnes, and Chayson Barnes. Many great-grand-children, nieces, and nephews and she loved them all.
She was preceded by her parents and son Mark.
