Mary Jane Dorsey Smith, resident of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2009, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh.

Mary Jane was a graduate of University of Kentucky with a BA in Journalism and a charter member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She served as women's editor for the Evansville Courier & Press from 1965 to 1975. She was co-founder of PVC Plastics Company in 1965 with her husband, William Glen Smith and worked at PVC Plastics until October of 2007. She was a member of Bible Study Fellowship, Christian Fellowship Church, and Evansville Tennis Patrons.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Glen Smith, in May 1978; parents, Alexander Holmes and Mary C. Dorsey; and two brothers, Ralph C. Dorsey and A. Holmes Dorsey Jr.
