Lot Landsdown/Lansdown, according to the attached record dated July 29, 1799, was born on February 22, 1796. He was the 3rd and last child born to Millian Hall and David Landsdown. In 1799, the Wilkes County Court, ordered that guardianship of Lot (then 3 yrs old) be granted to his uncle, Thomas Hall, married to Judith Dula Hall. It is presumed that this decision was due to Lot's mother's untimely death. A similar court order regarding guardianship of Lot's sisters, Millien and Mary had occurred 9 months earlier on October 31, 1798.

In an 1837 Estate File pertaining to Lot's father, David, Lot's sisters are listed as David's "sole children". The fact that said file did not mention Lot, suggests that he (Lot) may have died prior to 1837 - where and when is unknown...

Although no other documents have been found for Lot Landsdown, a Wilkes County Estate File dated May 1829 (folder dated 1831) lists a person by the name of Lot L Hall (see attached). The surnames of signers on said document, Triplett ¹ and Dula ² - are surnames connected to Thomas Hall, Lot's uncle, and guardian. Given the fact that Thomas and wife, Judith, had no biological son named Lot, and the signors of Lot's probate file are/were relatives of Thomas and Judith, is it possible that after Thomas Hall was granted guardianship of 3-year-old Lot Landsdown, Lot became Lot Hall?

¹ Martin Triplett - husband of Thomas Hall's daughter, Mary Winifred "Polly" Hall.
² John Dula - two with said name.
The oldest (b 1760) was Thomas Hall's brother-in-law.
The youngest (b 1800) was Thomas' nephew, son of Thomas' bro-in-law, Bennett Dula.
