Maggie Maye Porter Meservy

Maye Porter Meservy, our dear mother, grandmother and friend, has embarked on new and exciting adventures and reunited with her eternal companion, Lynn.
Born to Orson and Maggie Tolman Porter, she was the youngest of eight children. Maye and her family eked out a sparse living in the Big Horn Basin of northern Wyoming.
Proud of their Mormon pioneer heritage, the Porters provided lodging for missionaries serving in the Western States LDS Mission. Among those was a handsome young elder from Idaho. As it is wont to do, love found a way, and when Lynn finished his Lord's service, Maye joined him in Cache Valley, where they were married in the Logan LDS Temple.
Maye was active in state and local politics, and with her thespian talents and striking beauty, she was a fixture in local theater groups. Under her maiden name, Maye Porter, she became a well-known radio personality and pioneered "talk radio" in the Intermountain West. Maye interviewed a number of high-profile celebrities and church leaders.
Eschewing an invitation to go to New York with CBS Television, Maye chose to stay in Logan and raise her three children. She was extremely proud of her Mayflower heritage and was a charter member of the "Mayflower Compact." Maye had a great facility for teaching music and will be remembered by generations as their "very favorite song leader."
She was preceded in death by her dear husband, Lynn; seven brothers and sisters; and one grandchild. Maye is survived by her three children, Sherry Lynn Bitter (Bob), Michael Porter Meservy (Lynda) and James Bradford Meservy; 16 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9, at the Logan 13th Ward chapel, 195 S. 100 East. There will be a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 8, at the Allen-Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center, Logan. Friends and family may wish to assemble from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday at the 13th Ward chapel.
