John B. Reale, 98, died Dec. 1, 2010, at a local hospital.

He was born May 21, 1912, in Calabria, Italy, the son of Joseph and Catherine (Reale) Reale. He was raised and educated in the United States.

Mr. Reale was an Army veteran of World War II. He married Anne M. MacLellan on Sept. 6, 1942 in Boston. They resided in Stoneham, Mass., for 24 years and Londonderry for 10 years before coming to Manchester in 1986.

Mr. Reale had been employed as a manager for the IRS for 30 years. Upon his retirement in 1968, he was awarded the Albert Gallatin Award signed by the Secretary of the Treasury. He was a member of Brookside Congregational Church, a lifetime member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and he had been on the residents committee at Hillcrest Terrace Community.

IN HIS LIFE: His family includes a son John W. Reale, and his wife. Loraine of Londonderry; grandchildren John J. Reale and Katrina A. Reale, both of Londonderry; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Reale was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Anne M. Reale, in 1998, a brother, William Reale, and sisters Mildred Codispotti, Rose Delay and Mary Ciccarella.

SERVICES: Calling hours are Sunday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. in Goodwin Funeral Home, 607 Chestnut St., corner of Harrison Street, Manchester. The funeral service is Monday at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Manchester.
