SHONKIN - Bernice McCafferty, 83, died of natural causes Friday at the family ranch in Shonkin. September 24th 2010.
Her funeral is 10 a.m. Friday at Benton Funeral Home, with burial in the family cemetery on the ranch. After the burial, a reception will be held at the Winderl home.
Bernice was married to Steve Winderl, with whom she had four beautiful children. After their divorce, she married Edwin McCafferty on June 20, 1978, in Pawhuska, Okla. She then moved to the ranch in Shonkin to start her life as a rancher's wife. Bernice and Edwin were married 25 years when Ed passed away in 2003. She later moved to the Sunrise Bluffs in Fort Benton. In August 2010, she went back to live on the ranch, where she lived until the time of her death.
Survivors include four children, Robbyn (John) Bartley of Owasso, Okla., Theodore (Jan) Winderl of Lincoln, Brett (Monika) Winderl of Shonkin, and Blaine (Debbie) Winderl of Killeen, Texas; 11 grandchildren, Kellie Joe (Elmer) Pinkston, Angie (Mike) Hoffman, Megan Winderl, Jared Winderl, Philip Winderl, Lily Winderl, Christian Winderl, Scott Kotlarich, Robbie Kotlarich, Jerica Winderl and Christina Winderl; and nine great-grandchildren, Karlee Hodson, Keilsey Hodson, Bailey Kosier, Olyvia Kosier, Ester Hoffman, Hannah Hoffman, Chloe Hoffman, Michael Hoffman and Samuel Hoffman.
In addition to her husband, Edwin; she was preceded in death by her parents and several siblings.
Bernice was a devout Christian whose love for the Lord was strong. She always said that when it is time to stand up for the Lord, stand up with your head held high.
